Hor Weng Yew has more than 30 years of experience in the maritime industry. He is currently the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Carriers Limited Group, the shipping arm of the Kuok Group and sits in the various Boards of companies in Kuok (Singapore) Limited (KSL). In his recent years in the Kuok Group, Weng Yew has been driving the organisation’s transformation and business portfolio diversification, underscoring a renewed and dedicated focus on process excellence, safety, strategy-driven decision-making and talent development.

Prior joining KSL, he was the President & Chief Executive Officer of American Eagle Tankers (AET). Weng Yew was involved in the pioneering team of AET in its formative years under Neptune Orient Lines Singapore and continued to play an instrumental role in the growth of the company in its subsequent ownership under the MISC Group of companies.

Weng Yew holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) Degree from the National University of Singapore and Masters of Science (MSC) in Shipping, Trade & Finance (Distinction) from the City University Business School London (subsequently renamed CASS Business School, City University of London). In recent years, he also participated in the INSEAD Advanced Management Programme (AMP) in France in his continued pursuit of management excellence. Weng Yew also plays an active role in the maritime industry in the international front as well as in maritime Singapore. He sits in the Board of Gard P&I (Bermuda) Ltd, Singapore War Risk Mutual Committee (SWRM), the Board of Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) and the Advisory Board of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Maritime Studies programme.

Yi Han is the Director of the Innovation, Technology and Talent Development (ITTD) Division in the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Prior to his current role, he was in the Sea Transport Division under the Singapore Ministry of Transport overseeing maritime policies and programmes. Yi Han graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering under the National University of Singapore and holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His experience covers R&D promotion, manpower development and strategic planning.

Eddie formed Brandtology in 2008 after successfully incubating e-Cop, a company he founded in 2000, to a market leader in Cyber-Security Industry. e-Cop was acquired in 2007 by a wholly owned subsidiary of Temasek Holding Pte Ltd. Brandtology is the leader in Business & Brand online intelligence services. Brandtology supports global clients in multiple countries and languages with more than 300 professionals in 15 countries. In 2014, Brandtology was fully acquired by an Australia-listed company.

In 2011, Eddie co-founded V-Key with a key objective to make all mobile applications more secured with cutting edge patented technology. Ant Financial, a unit of Alibaba led a Series B investment round in V-Key in 2014. In 2012, Eddie co-founded TNF Ventures with several tech-entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, to
incubate early stage technology start-ups.

In 2013, Eddie founded Neeuro to improve the performance of human mind by using its own-developed and world first brain computing platform “NeeuroOS”. In 2014, Eddie co-founded Spini, a marketplace for Sales Professionals to get crucial information for sales opportunities from the crowd. In 2019, Eddie co-founded Esseplore to build an “Airbnb” platform for Home Chefs.

Before founding Brandtology and e-Cop, Eddie held senior positions in IBM and Computer Associates Inc.. Eddie has also appeared as the investor/judge in Startup Asia Seasons 1 & 2 by Channel News Asia.

Married with two children, Chau holds an MSc in Communication Engineering from Imperial College, London

William Lee worked for 10 years at Panasonic Corporation (under the Matsushita Electric Industrial Scholarship, Osaka Japan) as a Research and Development Engineer; and upon completion of his post-graduate training in New York City, he worked for another 13 years at Hewlett-Packard Company (Palo Alto, California USA) as Principal of Technology Operations within the Printing and Personal Computer Systems Group.

He has gained deep industrial experiences from research innovation, product development, manufacturing, procurement and supply-chain operations, go-to-market and commercialization strategy; including NPV justification for new program corporate funding allocation, business model creation and breakeven projections.

On the Research translational front, he is the Strategic Innovation Associate Director of Advanced Robotics Centre (ARC) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), with the task to bring Research outcome of AI-driven Robotics and Autonomous Technology-to-Market (T2M). William co-founded AImatix Pte Ltd, a NUS Enterprise-enabled Startup, into the space for highdensity pedestrian pathway with autonomous devices as the last-mile solution. NUS Research role includes Co Principal Investigator (Co-PI) to BCA-HDB Façade Inspection Project funded thru NRF Central Gap; BCA-Surbana-Jurong BIM Digital Inspection Robotics Systems funded by National Robotics Program under A*STAR; ST Engineering Land Systems Autonomous Bus (12-metres) funded by NRF/MOT/LTA; Collaborative AI Robots funded by A*STAR; and SIA-NUS Digital Aviation Corporate Lab funded by NRF (Corporate Lab Scheme), while concurrently serving as Deputy Director; he also has teaching assignments as Adjunct Associate Professor and advises Deep Technology spin-offs from NUS.

James has more than 18 years of experience across various fields including private banking, private equity, and investment banking in institutions like DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, Oppenheimer Investments, and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services. Whilst at Oppenheimer Investments, James was the Head of Asia for 5 years and was instrumental in starting and growing the business for the group in Asia. He has successfully closed Project Finance deals more than US500mn across various industries like infrastructure, consumer goods and real estate. In addition, James also ran a family office which invested in healthcare, consumer goods, aged care, engineering, renewable energy and childcare.

James graduated with a Masters in Business Administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Corporate Finance from University of Western Australia. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (Australia). He currently holds an MBA from the University of Adelaide, Australia. He is responsible for catalysing the collaboration with NUS Enterprise to setup PIER71™ in 2018 to support the development of maritime innovation ecosystem in Singapore for MarineTech start-ups.

Prior to heading MTE, Desmond has spent more than 15 years in managing and developing IT solutions for the industry and MPA. He was also responsible for catalysing the Smart Port Hackathon in 2014 and 2015; and the inaugural run of Smart Port Challenge in 2017. Thomas graduated as a computer engineer from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and holds a MBA from National University of Singapore (NUS). He began his career with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) as a Systems Analyst and has since taken up various roles within and outside MPA.

He is the Deputy Director of MPA’s Innovation, Technology and Talent Development Division (ITTD), responsible for developing a Vibrant Maritime R&D and Innovation Ecosystem in Singapore. The division administers a $250m Maritime Innovation and Technology Fund (a.k.a. the MINT Fund) and various programmes such as PIER71, Smart Port Challenge, Living Labs, Maritime Transformation Programme and Additive Manufacturing JIP.

He works closely with the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) to deepen key maritime R&D capabilities and industry-academia partnerships, and has supported the development of Maritime R&D Roadmap 2030.

He is also part of the planning and execution team for Sea Transport Industry Transformation Map (ITM), and the Next Generation Port 2030 that steers the development of the future mega port at Tuas.

Dr Yeoh is Professor and Chair for Entrepreneurship at the School of Computing, National University of Singapore (NUS), where he drives the school’s innovation efforts, teaching entrepreneurship and mentoring student entrepreneurs and start-up founders.  He was the Executive Director for the Mediapreneur, a corporate incubation programme for media startups at Mediacorp Pte Ltd during 2014-2019.  He served for many years on the Grant Committee for the Singapore Association for Social Enterprises (raiSE) approving grants for social enterprise startups.

In a career spanning over 30 years, he has been a research scientist, research institute director, internet start-up CEO, investor, professor, government policy maker and adviser on innovation.

He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Loughborough University (UK) and a Masters degree from the MIT Sloan Fellows programme for innovation and global leadership.
